Another small show at te NYPH was called (Super) Natural, I have to admit it was quite a varied mixture of work, but there where some beautiful prints such as this Untitled 001 by fashion photographer Justin Hollar,

What is it with....?
Tote bags??.... Don't get me wrong i like them, and have even looked into getting HOST Gallery bags, I am even a proud owner of a NYPH bag (that I got free...)..
Anyway just saw this on the Jen Bekman mailout, and apparently it's a Give Away (If you spend $200)...
Please let me know if you would like a HOST/Foto8 Gallery Bag (for Free/And/Or $200)....
Anyway talking of Jen Bekman, I really wish I could see her show of Christian Chaize's work Praia Piquinia on until the 11th July

Joni Sternbach
So over the next few posts I shall be looking at some of the work from other peoples shows at the NYPH that I found interesting.... (Of course we could bang on about our own show forever!..)
First up is Joni Sternbach, and her work work on Surfers, here are some examples but I strongly suggest looking at both her bodies of work The Salt Effect, and Abandoned......

NYPH 09 A Visual History
So I am currently in New York City, we are working on a show for the New York Photo festival, entitled Home for Good (more info here) as Jon Levy, publisher and director of Foto8 has been asked to be one of the four curators this year....
I know the show is going to be a success and will look great but below is what we arrived too (our space is in the Dumbo Arts Centre) which originally seemed a little daunting..
At the moment from HOST and Foto8 here, are myself, Jon, Lauren (8 Magazine) and Leo Hsu, later today we will be joined by some of our photographers, Seba, Venetia Deardon, Tim Heatherington etc....
Jon interviewed one of the festivals directors, Frank Evers on Sunday which can be seen here...
Anyway from the pictures you will see we are getting there, more updates to follow.....
And as another note of interest, we have been hanging out and helped by Sasha Wolf of the Sasha Wolf Gallery, which is a real gem of a space and well worth looking into, she has some amazing photographers on her books, hopefully in the future HOST and Sasha will be working together on various projects....
Anyway I will be updating regularly, and if your in NY, let us know, we will be holding a bit of a party in our space on Thursday evening....
Over and out...

Drowned and Other Stories (Seba Kurtis)
So very good news is it is now completely confirmed that photographer Seba Kurtis is to have a show here June (8 June- 3 July 2009) entitled Drowned and Other Stories, the other good news is HOST now represents Seba's prints world wide... I believe that Seba's work is some of the most deeply passionate, un pretentious and fresh photography around at the moment, so do get in touch to find out more...
And just as I am here I thought I would remind you that this week, sees the last week of Aaron Schuman's show here at HOST, I will have to take it down on Friday, also I have 12 pictures from Seamus Murphy's new body of Work East of The Rising Sun (a commission from the great Dispatches Magazine) on show, again though I will have to take it down on Friday...
Here is an example of Seamus' s work from that series:
